Details
"Switchel," or "Haymakers' Punch" was the 19th Century version of Gatorade, made of apple cider vinegar, molasses and sometimes ginger. Farmers and farmhands carried large, cool pottery crocks of Switchel into the fields during haying season and poured it into tin cups to keep it at its absolute coldest. They would scratch their names into the cups to be sure theirs was never "borrowed."
The Beekman 1802 Switchel Cup is inspired by these old farm and camp mugs. Each extra-large cup keeps a generous 24 ounces of liquid ice cold, and is made of stainless steel with the Beekman 1802 logo embossed on the side. Each cup also comes with an authentic 19th century Switchel recipe (though to be perfectly honest, we much prefer to enjoy lemonade or ice tea in it.)
Dimensions: 4" tall X 4.5" diameter.
